Any work is always improvable, you cannot really finish the work, you can only abandon it out of tiredness or incompetence.
It be urged that the wild and uncultivated tree, hitherto yielding sour and bitter fruit only, can never be made to yield better; yet we know that the grafting art implants a new tree on the savage stock, producing what is most estimable in kind and degree. We are all daughters of God in various stages of construction.
I don’t just sit around hopin for nothing. I do shit. It’s the ‘hope’ part that fucks that line all up. You should change it to somethin like, ‘We fight for better things,’ or ‘We work for better things.’ Or ‘We plan for better things.’ That’s what’s wrong with this city; it ain’t about the mayor. No work you’ll ever complete;
no project you’ll ever attempt;
no skill you’ll ever master;

no sculpture you’ll ever create;
no task you’ll ever perform;
no structure you’ll ever build;
nothing you will ever do —
is more important than the life you shape one day at a time.
